The Wendy Weil Agency, Inc. is a full-service literary agency that handles around 100 authors, among them Pulitzer Prize winners, National Book Award winners, New York Times bestsellers, authors of literary and commercial fiction, memoirists, journalists, health care experts, and groundbreaking social activists.
We are a staff of four people (and one dog) who handle publishing rights to books as well as audio rights, first serial rights to magazines, and electronic rights. We work with agents throughout the world who handle our translation rights, and with film agents in Hollywood.
The Wendy Weil Agency was established in 1987 and has been at its current address on Madison Avenue since 1992.
Wendy Weil is the President of The Wendy Weil Agency, Inc. She is the recipient of a Matrix Award from New York Women in Communications, Inc., has been Literary Vice President of the Association of Authors' Representatives, President of the Women's Media Group, and Clerk of the Alumni Association of Friends Seminary. She is often accompanied to the office by Betty, her cocker spaniel.
Emily Forland is an agent in her eleventh year at The Wendy Weil Agency, Inc. In addition to representing her own list of authors, she also handles the agency's foreign rights. Originally from Texas, she has a B.A. in English from the University of Chicago, an MFA in Poetry from Sarah Lawrence College, and an MFA in Graphic Design from the School of Visual Arts in New York.
Ann Torrago is office manager, and bookkeeper. She has been at the agency since its formation.
Betty is the office dog.
